VINNIES COMMUNITY SLEEPOUT - Thursday 18th June
As you rug up at home on Thursday 18th June, spare a thought for the staff of OLHC school who will be taking part in the Vinnie's Community Sleepout. Sleeping in the school hall, OLHC staff will gain a greater appreciation for what life is like for more than 100,000 Australians who are homeless each night of the year. Reward the bravery of our teachers by donating to this most worthy cause by going to: http://vinniescommunitysleepout.gofundraise.com.au/page/OLHC
You can also donate unused blankets in good condition to the Vinnie's Winter Appeal. Blanket donations can be left with any of the Mini-Vinnies class representatives.
SISTER SCHOOL - MARIA BINTANG LAUT SCHOOL - BANDUNG -INDONESIA
A historic agreement was signed on Friday 23rd September 2011 with our Sister School in Bandung Indonesia. Principal Philip Cachia, and Senior School teachers Clare Curtis, Jack Rendle and Robert Lagreca visited Maria Bintang Laut (Mary Star of the Sea) School to look at Indonesian Schools, take lessons with various classes and run professional development with teachers from the school. It was an honour and privilege to have been welcomed so warmly by Principal Lanny Luniarti, the teachers and the children during our stay. We reciprocated the gesture in March 2012 and 2013 when staff from our sister school visited Our Lady Help Of Christians School. In September 2012 five of our Junior School teachers returned to Bandung to continue this wonderful relationship. Then again in 2013 three of our teachers visited Bandung. The most recent exchange was in March 2014 when Ibu Lucy, Ibu Dora and Pak Puji came to Melbourne.
In September 2014 we signed another Memorandum of Understanding to extend the Sister School relationship for a further three years.
