What is the Parent Association?

Our Parent Association consists of a group of dedicated parents and guardians who work together for the benefit of the school community. Our aim is to create an engaging and vibrant hub for all students and to foster a strong and supportive community spirit among the families of the school.

Together, we create this environment by providing many fun activities for both the children and their families throughout the year. Another goal of the Parent Association is to facilitate fundraising opportunities that can provide the school with financial support to purchase items that enhance the enjoyment of school for all the children. Recently we have purchased new chrome books, a new selection of readers for each classroom and are now focused on a large landscaping project for the school that will see a kitchen garden, new play spaces and an improved aesthetic for the school.

We provide some important services in the school community such as:

  • Promoting a sense of community spirit within the school through the organising of parent and school community functions and social events
  • Managing school fundraising activities
  • Providing an opportunity for parents to connect, make friends and learn more about what is going on at OLHC
  • Looking for ways to improve the family and school partnership by meeting regularly with the school Principal and Leadership Team

Some of the fun accomplishments we have had in the past include:

  • Providing fun activities for the children such as a sausage sizzle on Triathlon Day, establishing a Friday fun-day school snack canteen and organising special school lunches each term
  • Organising and managing school stalls and activities including Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Welcome Picnic, School Disco and the Family Fundraiser Dinner Event
  • Various social nights, family days, a Mum’s Christmas in July Dinner and a Dad’s Dinner, as well as other opportunities for parents to connect and socialise in a relaxed environment

Joining the Parent Association is a great way to keep informed, help make decisions about school events and fundraising activities, and make our school great! The Parent Association meets approximately once per month during the school term. It’s a great way to build friendships with other families at the school.

If you would like to join our Parent Association, receive our email updates, or find out more, please contact us via email OLHCPA@gmail.com. Our 2023 Parents Association Presidents are Measha Agresta and Chrystal Gilkes.
