At Our Lady Help of Christians, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We actively demonstrate this through Pastoral Care, a commitment embraced by all staff to ensure every child feels supported, safe and valued.

Our Student Wellbeing program combines evidence-based approaches, including the Berry Street Education Model, Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships and the Cool Kids program, to nurture social, emotional and academic growth.
Key components of our wellbeing approach include:

-
Student Wellbeing Leader guiding programs and support
-
‘Buddy’ Program connecting Prep students with senior peers
-
Student Wellbeing & Learning Diversity Team meeting regularly to review student needs
-
Regular access to health professionals, including special education advisers, child and educational psychologists, school counsellor and speech pathologists
-
Whole-staff Case Conferences to discuss individual students in need
-
Individual Learning Plans tailored for students with additional learning or social-emotional needs
Through these initiatives, Our Lady Help of Christians School ensures every student is supported to thrive academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually, within a safe and nurturing community.

Passive Play Areas
Passive Play Areas: Space to Imagine and Recharge

At Our Lady Help of Christians School, our playgrounds include quiet, reflective spaces where children can read, build with LEGO, draw or simply relax. These passive play areas provide a calm environment for creativity, concentration and self-expression, giving students a break from active play.

Benefits include:
-
Boosting creativity through open-ended, imaginative activities
-
Encouraging focus and problem-solving in small group or individual play

By including passive play areas, we ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, create and relax in a safe, nurturing environment.
